BS9251:2014 has landed
After many months of review BS9251:2014, is released and is in effect as of the 31st October 2014. This is the British Standard that gives recommendations for the design, installation, components, water supplies and backflow protection, commissioning, maintenance and testing of domestic and residential fire sprinkler systems. BS9251:2014 supersedes BS 9251:2005, which is withdrawn.
Changes in BS9251:2014 include new risk categories and more consultation with the authorities having jurisdiction. This will create systems tailored for the needs of those being protected. This makes it harder to give general information on requirements but opens lines of communication between those designing and those enforcing.
We will be updating our site with the relevant information over the coming weeks. Watch this space.
